A trav\u00e9s de la Oficina de Prensa de la Santa Sede, el pont\u00edfice destac\u00f3 su arraigada convicci\u00f3n en el derecho y el deber ciudadano de participar en los procesos democr\u00e1ticos.<\/p>\n<p>La Santa Sede precis\u00f3 que el pont\u00edfice siempre ejerci\u00f3 su derecho al sufragio cuando fue elegible, tanto en Estados Unidos como durante los m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os en los que residi\u00f3 en Per\u00fa como sacerdote misionero y obispo.
